A very short tale - I've only been riding about once a week since Thanksgiving, weather permitting. It's so hard to get motivated to get on all my layers of cold and rain gear and get out the door. Hard to remember the days when I bundled up without a second thought several days a week to ride my bike to work.
But now a ten or fifteen or twenty mile ride leaves me feeling loose, invigorated and fired up, thinking about hitting the trails again in the spring, finally doing some of the Washington state rides I've dreamed about since my first years riding.
My job is half-time at most, and the scheduling system allows employees a fair amount of no-questions-asked freedom to request days off. At least I think it does, I haven't tried too much so far. But when spring break and summer vacation come, and the students want more hours, I will take my chances. In the meantime, I am saving up some travel money.
